Why I love Hong Kong

Not wanting everything on this blog to be serious, I thought I’d post two pictures I took recently.

I don’t think Her Majesty has ever looked so good!
Imagine if your flat screen TV was this big. It would take quite some time to clean it!
This is one of the reasons I love Hong Kong is that you do see interesting sights like this often.
So I’ll ask the following questions and hopefully someone will comment. What is it about the place where you live makes you love/hate that place?

This is where I live in Russia.

    I love it because:

    1. I am treated as a real guest by the landlady and her family
    2. Relatively beautiful landscape compared with the ugly city

    I hate it because:

    1. It takes at least 1 hour for me to go to the city centre by bus
    2. Mosquito
    3. Unstable water supply with fluctuating temperature...

  3. I love (and hate) HK taxi drivers for their irreverence and absurdity.
They are mavericks in the service industry; blissfully unaware of, and insensitive to, the needs of the passenger for comfort.
They have their radios and CB's half-tuned and on full volume and perform the simultaneous tasks of conversing (ie. screaming friends on the other ends of their three mobile phones) while enjoying a private belching competition with themselves as though they were at home watching TV in their underwear.
Many HK taxi drivers are like some thoroughly offensive artwork...
they must be experienced at least once as they stimulate feelings of discomfort that lead to deeper reflection on what it is to be human.
HK taxi drivers are rare and priceless, and are well-worth preserving!

  5. Glad to hear the feedbacks on the taxi driver. As a local, I find the taxi in Hong Kong good enough, especially when I compare the service in Hong Kong to Russia (where I am staying) and the Netherlands (where I used to stay)...
